Teaching takes place in Hammersmith, London (Saturdays), and a call is mandatory to define your focus and structure. All equipment will be provided.
Certification & Materials

For 1–2 day training, a focused handout will be provided instead. Additional certificates for specific instruments/modules upon request.

Private Level 1
Sound Healing with Tibetan Singing Bowls
£300 per day (12:30 pm - 5:30 pm) Flexible dates
Follow the Level 1 structure in a private setting, with space to slow down and properly understand each technique.
You will work hands-on with your own model, learning how sound is applied to the body, how vibration affects brainwaves, and how to deliver a treatment that feels steady and effective.
The 2-practitioner protocol (two people treating one client) is intentionally excluded it is not a practical skill for most real-life settings, and this training focuses on what you will actually use.
This can be taken as a full 3-day training (with certification and manual), or condensed into 1–2 days depending on your level and focus, with targeted handouts provided.
Private Level 2
Group Sound Baths & Multi-Instrument Practice
£300 per day (12:30 pm - 5:30 pm) Flexible dates
This training follows the full 3-day Level 2 course structure, adapted into a private format.
You will learn how to hold a group sound bath using multiple instruments including gong, drum, and singing bowls and how to build a session that people can stay with from beginning to end.
We also focus on how this translates into real settings: yoga studios, corporate sessions, or more ritual-style experiences.
If you prefer, the training can be shortened into 1–2 days with a more focused direction (e.g. singing bowls only, or refining your existing sound baths).
This can be taken as a full 3-day training (with certification and manual), or condensed into 1–2 days depending on your level and focus, with targeted handouts provided.
Gong — In-Depth Practice
£200 — 2 hours
This is not just about technique it’s about how you relate to the gong.
You will explore both handheld and stand-mounted gongs, working with different mallets, striking methods, and ways of building intensity without overwhelming the space.
More importantly, we refine your sensitivity when to hold back, when to expand, and how to let the sound develop rather than forcing it.
This approach comes from real practice: from private sessions in high-end London spaces to spiritual and ceremonial events, where the gong is not just played, but used to shift the entire atmosphere of a room.
The focus is on helping you find your own control and presence with the instrument so the sound feels intentional, not random.
Shamanic-Inspired Sound Practice
£200 — 2 hours
A more intuitive approach to sound, grounded in rhythm, repetition, and intention.
Using instruments such as drums, rattles, conch shells, and singing bowls, we explore how to create sessions that feel more immersive and connected.
This includes working with simple prayer, energetic awareness, and structuring a session that carries a sense of depth without overcomplicating the process.
Couple / Duo Sound Therapy
£200 — 2 hours
Learn how to hold a session for two people at once whether couples, duos, or relationships such as mother and daughter.
You will practise how to work with two individual energy fields alongside a shared dynamic, using primarily Tibetan singing bowls supported by other instruments.
This includes:
- balancing differences in energy without forcing alignment
- understanding where to focus your attention
- creating a setup that allows both individuals to settle while harmonising the connection between them
This is a precise form of work that builds strong practitioner awareness and sensitivity.

Her calming presence and genuine dedication made the whole experience so enriching. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to deepen your practice, I can’t recommend Julia’s training enough. Truly a five-star experience!

I completed a short 121 course in sound healing with Tibetan bowls and gongs, and it was an amazing experience. Julia, the instructor, is friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable about the bowls. I learned a great deal from her about how to use them for one-on-one sound healing sessions. As part of the course, we also completed meditations and learned about the Vedic and Tibetan Chakra systems. Her expertise is impressive. I would definitely recommend taking the course with Julia.

Can I learn sound healing through private 1:1 training rather than a group course?
Yes. Private 1:1 sound healing training is available at Shin Healing for those who want focused, personalised teaching. Level 1 covers Tibetan singing bowl therapy; Level 2 covers group sound bath facilitation using multiple instruments. Training costs £300 per day and can be taken as a full 3-day programme with certification, or condensed into 1–2 focused days. Specialist 2-hour sessions in gong technique, shamanic-inspired sound practice, and couple sound therapy are also available at £200 each. Sessions take place on Saturdays at Hammersmith, London W6 0DT. Call Julia to enquire: 07789 775957.
What is Tuning Fork Reflexology, and is it available in London?
Tuning Fork Reflexology is a specialist treatment that combines reflexology with sound therapy, applying chakra-tuned forks directly to reflex points on the feet. As the feet contain pathways corresponding to organs, glands, and nerves throughout the body, the restorative vibrations stimulate energy flow, release blockages, and support blood circulation across tissues and muscles. The session concludes with gentle energy healing on the feet for grounding and stress relief. This treatment is rarely offered in London. Cost: £85 for 60 minutes, available at Hammersmith, London W6 0DT.
Can sound healing help with back pain?
Sound healing may help promote relief from back pain and physical tension. Julia’s Tibetan Bowl Therapy uses the Five-Chakra System of Tibetan medicine, which includes techniques specifically for joint pain, back pain, and headaches. Many clients report reduced tension and improved physical comfort after sessions. One client noted measurable physical changes recorded via Boditrax body composition assessment following her session. This is a complementary practice and is not a replacement for medical treatment.
Is sound healing useful for insomnia and chronic stress?
Sound healing is a widely used complementary approach to support nervous system regulation — a key factor in both insomnia and chronic stress. Many clients at Shin Healing report entering a deeply relaxed state within minutes of a session beginning. A small number of people experience heightened alertness after their first session as a short-term adjustment response, which typically settles before the second or third session.
How is a Shin Healing session different from a typical sound bath in London?
Shin Healing is a private, 1:1 therapeutic practice — not a group wellness experience. Every session begins with a consultation and an energy assessment using the Vedic 7-Chakra System, determining which instruments are selected and sequenced for that specific client. Julia holds a resident sound therapist position at Pan Pacific London and The Langley — affiliations that carry an institutional standard of consistency not required from group sound bath providers.
What actually happens during a sound healing session?
Every session begins with a consultation and an energy assessment, after which Julia selects and sequences instruments based on the client’s specific energetic state. Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, and where appropriate alchemy crystal bowls are placed on and around the body. Clients commonly report deep physical relaxation, emotional softening, a quieted mind, and in some sessions a sense of expanded awareness. Sessions are held at 7 Bradmore Park Road, Hammersmith, London W6 0DT.
Can sound healing support people living with cancer?
Yes, as a complementary practice alongside conventional medical care — not a replacement for it. Julia Shin-Yan Tsang has delivered clinical sessions for cancer patients at Whittington Hospital, North London, and works to support nervous system regulation, reduce emotional overwhelm, and promote a sense of inner calm during treatment and recovery. Sessions are always used alongside medical treatment. Weekly sessions are recommended for those in active treatment.
Do you offer sound healing home visits in London?
Yes. Home visits are available across London, Surrey, and Berkshire — £250 for up to 90 minutes, suitable for individuals, couples, or small groups. Please allow an additional 45 minutes before and after for instrument setup and pack-down. To arrange a home visit, contact Julia via WhatsApp: +44 7789 775957.
Is sound healing safe? Are there any contraindications?
Sound healing is safe for the majority of people. The main contraindications are:
– Women in the first trimester of pregnancy
– Clients with hearing aids (remove before the session)
– Those with sound-induced epilepsy, a pacemaker, or an implanted medical device
– Anyone in acute psychiatric crisis
If any of these apply, please consult your GP before attending. Sound healing is a complementary practice, always used alongside conventional medical care. If you are unsure, contact julia@shinhealing.com before booking.
Is it normal to feel different after a sound healing session?
Yes. Temporary post-session responses are common and are a normal part of the body’s adjustment process. These may include:
– Deep fatigue or a need for more sleep than usual
– Vivid or emotionally active dreams
– Heightened emotional sensitivity
– Occasional emotional release in the hours or days following
These responses are short-term and typically settle within 24–72 hours. Staying hydrated and resting supports the process. Contact Julia directly if you have concerns: julia@shinhealing.com.
How often should I have sound healing sessions?
Frequency depends on your situation:
– Cancer support — weekly sessions recommended
– General stress management — 1 to 2 times monthly
– Spiritual development or sustained emotional work — monthly sessions
A package of 4 sessions plus 1 free is available. Reduced rates for clients on benefits are available — enquire discreetly via julia@shinhealing.com or WhatsApp +44 7789 775957.
